BIO

I am a fourth-year Bachelor of Public Relations student at Humber College. This summer, I had the opportunity to work in British Columbia as a tree planter and firefighter. But what does wet boots have to do with public relations? I needed to have a high level of collaboration in high-stress environments that forced me to think fast and improve my communication skills at an accelerated rate for my team to be successful. Just like public relations, good teamwork can move mountains.

During firefighting, we had to be alert at all times and most importantly, we had to look out for each other. A clear line of communication was established and followed. On my best day of tree planting, I put 4,710 trees in the ground. On that day it rained, hailed and had periods of hot sun. I could not control the weather, but I could control my attitude towards the situation.

I love working in teams and pushing myself past my limit of what is possible.

CANADIAN FORCES BASE BORDEN

This was a photo taken when I was commanding Lima company at the age of 18. There is 2,000 people on the parade square and I am one of the tiny dots you see at the front. Needless to say, I had to be very loud for my commands to be heard.

"Earn your leadership every day."
